Logger killed in Gladstone
GLADSTONE — A Gladstone logger was killed in an accident in a remote part of Delta County late Tuesday afternoon.
David Richard Sarasin, 48, was found dead upon the arrival of troopers from the Gladstone post of the Michigan State Police after they were called at 5:20 p.m., according to a state police news release.
The incident occurred in a wooded area of Bay de Noc Township, which covers the southern half of the Stonington Peninsula between Little Bay de Noc and Big Bay de Noc.
Sarasin, who was cutting trees for Marvin Nelson Forest Products of Cornell, was reported trapped between two trees, police said.
“As far as we can tell, (Sarasin) was in the process of limbing two big trees when a third — which had been hung up in another tree behind him — came down unexpectedly,” Masonville Fire Chief Bob Stone told the Daily Press of Escanaba.
