County looks at partnership funding
MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Board is scheduled to consider renewing an agreement with the Lake Superior Community Partnership and the Marquette County Economic Development Corporation at its Committee of the Whole meeting tonight.
The board meets at 6:30 p.m. in room 231 of the courthouse annex.
Marquette County is the LSCP’s and EDC’s single largest funding source and the recommended 12-month payment is $64,050.
The money will be used to fund specific county priorities as well as fulfill the LSCP’s and EDC’s work plan. County Administrator Steve Powers said the priorities outlined in the proposal are consistent with what the LSCP and EDC have worked on in past years.
In other action, the board is expected to discuss a $480,000 Federal Aviation Association grant to fund projects at Sawyer International Airport.
The projects include repair and maintenance of runways, the design of a materials storage building, the purchase of an airport firefighting vehicle and an equipment upgrade of Sawyer’s automated weather observation system.
The work is part of Sawyer’s fiscal year 2006 projects as listed in the five-year Airport Capital Improvement Program using Sawyer’s annual AIP Entitlement funding.
